I hate the phrase “never judge a book by its cover”, cause quite frankly everyone is going to judge the book by its cover. So, make it a damn good cover.

Wether it has been created by how you dress, what make-up you put on, or simply how you walk down the street, everyone has their own form of masquerades. I know that I walk around as if I have no care in the world, when really I’ve most probably had an anxiety attack half an hour before. Its a facade, but it works.

We live in the 21st century, in a democracy where freedom of choice is highlighted in that unmissable bright yellow. But, freedom in fashion is under-rated and over simplified when aligned with what the world may think and how society views one. Without a doubt everyone is different. When strutting around in a “bralet” deems one as the ultimate in trend fashionista, on the other hand, at the same time, others may frown upon it. You’re not going to win everyone.

I feel we – well me anyway, are in a constant battle between modesty and modernity. Things seem to be getting shorter and shorter nowadays. From t-shirts to crop tops to now a “bralet” (if you ask me, its just a bra). With new feminism as a wave, women are told to wear whatever they want and own it. And so they should. Arguably, the fashion industry is trying to loosen the tug of war battle between the modesty and modernity. At the beginning of the year we saw the launch of The Abaya Collection by Dolce & Gabbana, which brings to question if the new age of all round modesty is dawning on the fashion world. Or, are they trying to win everyone?

Anyways, with sheer being a hit wonder trend this season, I thought why not give it a try. I’m rather a covert person when it comes to dressing. Yes I love figure hugging clothes – all my jeans are super tight fit, but, I get a conscious if I have a lot of flesh showing. Not that there is anything wrong with flesh showing – I don’t judge (eye roll emoji).

Whilst basic sheer can be rather unmissable, lace sheer can be a little less obvious. Subtle, sexy but stylish – you can’t really lose. Paired with a triangle bralet underneath and styled with another hit wonder trend that has come back this season – denim on denim.
